I made this recipe for dinner last night, and I have to say–it was pretty fantastic. The level of involvement required to prepare my food has dropped off a bit in the last few months–which isn’t to say I’ve been eating out a lot. Most of the meals I’ve been making have been of the “throw it in the oven and come back in an hour” variety. The fish part of the recipe was dirt simple, but the true star is the mango salsa (which I’ve had in restaurants before, but never tried to make). You wouldn’t even have to throw it on fish (although I have to say, the tilapia we got from Costco was better than I was expecting). I imagine it would be just as awesome over a pork roast (which I’ll probably try some time soon…).
A couple of nights ago, my roommate (also imported from Atlanta) spent awhile trying to track down new places to go play Trivia. He eventually found one–the Brittania Arms over in Cupertino. While not subscribing to the same brand as the one we tried in Palo Alto awhile back, the format was pretty similar. Four rounds of around 10 questions, asked in rapid-fire format. I’ll reiterate what I said last time…
People out here take the actual trivia and knowledge part of Team Trivia way too seriously. The whole thing needs to go at about 1/4 or 1/2 the speed to give more time for socializing and drinking. This place was certainly better than the last (older crowd–not jam-packed), but the search for a decent trivia spot continues.
